To cut steel, brass, copper, aluminum and other conductive metals, plasma cutting process is applied in fabrication and welding workshops and many industries. This process cuts the metal by means of accelerated jet of hot plasma. A plasma cutting machine basically use electrically conductive gas to transfer power supply's energy to any of the aforementioned metals. The gas can be high purity air, argon, oxygen, nitrogen or argon/nitrogen/ hydrogen mixture. A plasma jet of up to 40,000° F temperature pierces through the conductive metal and blows away the molten material. The major components of plasma cutting machine are power supply, arc starting console, and plasma torch.
